All of our levels
If you want to join one of our group classes, you need to know at what level you are. There are six levels of language proficiency (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) according to the CEFR scale.
You don’t have any (or almost no) knowledge of the Dutch language.
This is the beginner level. After completing the A0 to A1 course, you should be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. You can introduce yourself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where someone lives, people they know and things they have. You can interact in a simple way as long as the other person talks slowly and clearly and is willing to help you out.
We call this the elementary level. After completing the A1 to A2 course, you should be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). You will be able to use the two most used past sentences (simple past and present perfect), reflexive and separable verbs, and the subclause structure.
You are an intermediate now! After completing the A2 to B1 course, you should be able to handle most common situations. You can participate unprepared in conversations about familiar topics and everyday life (family, hobbies, work, travel, current events). You can connect sentences in a simple way so that you can describe experiences, events, your dreams, hopes and ambitions. You can briefly give reasons and explanations for your opinions and ideas. You can tell a story, the plot of a book or movie and give your opinion about it.
This is what we officially call: upper-intermediate. Sounds great, right? This is the level you need if you want to work/study on an academic level in The Netherlands. You can participate in conversations with native speakers in a fluent way. After completing the B1 to B2 course, you should be able to play an active role in discussions on well-known topics and give your opinion. You can provide clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of topics related to your areas of interest.
"Learn Dutch so you can finally understand those stroopwafel recipes! They’re simply too gooood!"
Important to know
Each group package contains 10 lessons, through which we complete half of the language level. We do for example level A0 to A0.1, which means the first half of level A0 to A1. Or we do for example level A2.1 to B1, which means the second half of level A2 to B1.
After completing a first half of the language level, the group will continue on the same day/time so finish the second half of the level. It is simply not possible to do an entire language level in 10 classes (you need around 60 to 70 study hours in total to be able to go from one language level to the other).
It is not possible to get a refund or switching groups after signing up, so make sure you pick the right level! You can always book a 1:1 call with me to discuss which level would fit you best.
A package of 10 classes is €200. You can pay by clicking on the group that you want to participate in below and follow the instructions.
We know that life can be intense sometimes and that you might not be looking for a 3 hour Dutch class after a long day of work. So to make everything doable, our group classes are 1,5 hour, once a week on a set time. As soon as we are opening new groups, you will see them published here on this page. Wanna be the first one to hear about new groups? Then join my newsletter here.
All the classes are online. We use either Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, depending on the teacher. You will receive the link in the week before starting the classes by email. You need a computer to follow the lessons. Following the lessons on your phone is not working well.
All of the private teachers are experienced and native Dutch speakers (check out the team here).
Your teacher will upload homework after every class in the Google Classroom. We expect you to hand in the homework before the class, but in the end you are responsible for your own learning process. If you are not making your homework we won’t be angry with you, but you’ll notice you will learn Dutch slower or that you might get behind on a few things.
The lessons are payed in packages of 10 lessons and it is not possible to get your money back or move them to another group course.
If you were not able to come to class because of sickness the teacher can record the class for you, but only if you yourself ask the teacher to do so and if the other students agree with making the recording too.
We really aim to keep the group together during the entire course so that we can build a nice ambiance, trust, and maybe even friendships. If you sign up for a group we expect you to show up and finish it.
