Private Classes

When it comes to learning a language, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Private lessons are a great idea if you are looking for a personalized and guided learning path. Let me explain you why…

personalized learning

Private Dutch classes offer a tailored learning experience that meets your specific needs and goals. Unlike group classes, where the curriculum is designed for a general audience, private lessons are customized to address your unique strengths and struggles. This personalized approach ensures that you can progress at your own pace and focus on areas that require extra attention. Everyone has a unique learning style, and private Dutch classes can adapt to yours. Whether you are a visual learner, an auditory learner, or prefer activities, your teacher can incorporate various teaching methods and materials that resonate with you. This way we ensure that you can absorb and retain the language in a way that suits you best.

flexible scheduling

One of the great things about private Dutch classes is the flexibility in scheduling. Whether you are a busy professional, a student, or a parent, private lessons can be scheduled at times that are most convenient for you. This flexibility allows you to balance your language learning with other commitments, making it easier to stay consistent and motivated.

immediate feedback and guidance

In a private class setting, you receive immediate feedback and guidance from your teacher. This real-time interaction helps you correct mistakes promptly and develop a better understanding of the language nuances. The personalized feedback ensures that you can improve your pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary more effectively. With one-on-one instruction, you are encouraged to engage more in conversations, ask questions, and express your thoughts in Dutch. This immersive practice helps build your confidence and fluency in speaking the language.

meet your new dutch friend!

Learning a language goes beyond memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules; it involves understanding the culture and customs associated with it. We know that moving to a new country is not only about learning the language. It is so much more! You need to build up a whole new life and I know from experience that that comes with many questions and sometimes insecurities as well. We want to be not only your teacher, but also your new Dutch friend (if you want that too!). We want you to feel comfortable in the class and free to open up about anything that happens in your life, because that’s what you are more likely to speak about in real life too! Aside from that, we offer valuable cultural insights and tips that help you navigate social situations and integrate more smoothly into Dutch-speaking environments. This cultural knowledge enriches your learning experience too.

Motivation and accountability

Having a dedicated instructor provides a sense of accountability that can keep you motivated and committed to your learning journey. Your teacher can track your progress, set achievable goals with you, and celebrate your successes, making the learning process more enjoyable and rewarding. We love to receive a WhatsApp message from our students when they passed their governmental language exams!

How private classes work

When you decide to start learning Dutch with private classes with us, you need to fill in the contact form below. As soon as I get your registration in my mailbox, I will check if I have a teacher in my team available for you. This usually depends on availability. Then I will email you back with the name of the teacher and I’ll explain you how to make the payment.

As soon as the payment is done, the teacher will reach out to you by email to plan the first class. In that first class you usually make a plan and you set up goals. And of course you will get started with learning Dutch right away!
Your teacher will upload homework after every class if you like. But if not, also fine! You are responsible for your own learning process in the end, so if you are not making your homework we won’t be angry with you, but you’ll notice you will learn Dutch slower.
Duo classes are basically the same as private lessons. You have a class with one of the teachers from my team, but then with a duo partner! This can be your partner, your friend, collegue or literally anyone. I do recommend that you are both on a similar level so that the classes are the most effective. If you want I can also pair you up with a duo partner, but it might take a while to find someone who’s on the same level as you and available at the same times. The prices for duo classes are €300 per person for a package of 10 lessons, each 1 hour.
A package of 10 classes is €400. Each class is one hour. The payment should be made before the first class. You can always continue with a new package after finishing up the first one.
We usually work from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 22.00pm (with some exceptions). It’s up to you how many classes per week you want. This can be for example once a week, twice a week or even 5 times a week. I highly recommend taking at least one class a week to keep yourself motivated and to stay consistent.
All of the private teachers are experienced and native Dutch speakers (check out the team here) and we work with all the language levels from A0 to C1.
We don’t work with a specific curriculum during the private lessons. That is the great thing about it! We personalize it to whatever you need. We have tons of materials that we work with and if you have preferences, let your teacher know! You will make a plan on what method and materials to use together with your teacher.
I think the most frequently asked question I get is: “How fast will I be able to go from level X to level X with 10 private lessons?”. And although I wish I could respond this question, I can’t. With over 6 years of teaching experience I’ve only learned that every student learns at their own pace. Some people simply struggle more with learning a language and others are super fast learners. And that’s okay!

Let's do this

what students say

The Dutch classes with Shonna have been amazing. She is very patient and very supportive. I have been able to learn a lot with her. Thank you for your time and great services. Best regards
Ali
I like the informal atmosphere during our classes. I appreciate Shonna's open attitude to all my questions and the way she deals with all my language-related issues, always giving them priority over the class material she prepared for the meeting. Thanks to the classes I have more motivation to be systematic in studying. In recent weeks I've noticed more and more situations in the train/shop when I can understand what Dutch people talk about. which was the most important for me when I started the course
Aga
Kimber is a good, structured and friendly teacher. She picks up where one struggles and helps to improve on it. I have learned to use the words more in context.
Marko
The lessons are going very well and Femke is a great teacher with practical and understandable lessons. I believe I have grasped a lot, especially in my grammar, speaking and listening which are my weaknesses. Vriendelijke groet
Tongai
Everything is going smoothly, I enjoy our classes with Femke. A lot of fun and I feel more confidence in my first steps in Dutch.
Alexander
Romy is a fantastic teacher and used different teaching methods in the lessons, such as listening exercises (e.g listening to weather on the news), discussions and talking about topics we covered, reading and writing exercises. We also did 2 tests throughout the lessons. Romy also reviewed what we had learnt the previous lesson, at the start of the lessons which was helpful. There was always room for any questions and discussion.
Megan
I'm happy with the lessons so far. Monique is a very friendly person and a great teacher. 😊 Best regards
Aleksandra
I really enjoyed the classes with Monique! I can definitely notice an improvement in my understanding of the language when I'm around Dutch people, which is great and also the reason why I want to continue with the course 😊
Daniela
Yesterday I had my 7th lesson with Monique. I am very happy with the way she teaches Dutch. She's a lovely person, very patient. I think I am improving 😉
